The art club's goal was simple: "We will not buy a single new thing. The new room will be made from what is already here." The principal raised one eyebrow but signed the permission form.
Week 1 — The room has been cleaned.
Four students worked for three afternoons. Seven garbage bags of dust were removed. Three windows, which had been covered with old newspaper, were uncovered. The video was uploaded to the school website on Friday afternoon. By Sunday night, it had been watched 1,200 times.
Week 4 — The door has been opened.
On the open day, more than 90 students visited the small room. The principal stopped at the bookshelf-that-used-to-be-a-chair for two minutes without saying a word.
